Russian forces from the Vostok group have taken control of Shevchenkovskoye in the Zaporozhye Region, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

During the fighting, Russian troops also struck personnel and equipment from two assault brigades, two air assault brigades and two assault regiments of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The attacks targeted positions near Trudovoye, Otrishki, Omelnik and Barvinovka in the Zaporozhye Region, as well as Mirovka and Vasilkovka in the Dnepropetrovsk Region.

Shevchenkovskoye is located in the Novonikolayevka District of the Zaporozhye Region, close to the border with the Dnepropetrovsk Region. Before the fighting, the village had a population of about 250. Zelenoye, which the Russian Defense Ministry said was taken on August 21, lies roughly one kilometer to the south.

The assault on Shevchenkovskoye was carried out by troops from the 36th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Army. Russian forces seized a major defensive area and cleared more than 180 buildings. Ukrainian losses amounted to up to a company of troops.

Russian servicemen also destroyed 11 armored combat vehicles, seven vehicles, six unmanned ground transport systems and more than 30 heavy Baba Yaga hexacopters.

The advance expanded the Russian foothold near the Dnepropetrovsk Region border to five settlements: Blagodatnoye, Rybalskoye, Shevchenkovskoye, Zelenoye and Novoye Pole.

War correspondent Alexander Kots said the newly captured positions allow Russian units to push north along the border toward the N-15 highway leading to Novonikolayevka. The town, with a population of about 5,000, serves as a logistics and transport hub for Ukrainian forces in the northeastern part of the Zaporozhye Region.
