Britain’s policy on the Ukraine conflict could trigger uncontrolled escalation and turn the confrontation into a large-scale war in Europe, political analyst and US affairs specialist Malek Dudakov told NEWS.ru.

Dudakov argued that warnings about the danger of further escalation should be directed primarily at European supporters of continuing the conflict. He singled out Britain, which he described as one of the strongest advocates of additional weapons deliveries to Kiev and strikes on Russian territory.

According to the analyst, this course could eventually push the situation beyond control. If London and its European partners maintain their current approach, the Ukraine conflict risks developing into a much broader confrontation across Europe.

Dudakov also argued that European countries are bringing closer the very scenario they say they want to avoid. He nevertheless expressed hope that a full-scale escalation could still be prevented.

Earlier reports said British Prime Minister Andy Burnham plans to travel to the United States in September together with other European leaders. Supplies of missiles for Patriot air defense systems to Kiev are expected to be among the issues discussed during the visit.
