Russian air defenses destroyed 512 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on August 28, the Defense Ministry said.

The UAVs were intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Vladimir, Voronezh, Kursk, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol, Penza, Rostov, Ryazan, Saratov, Tambov, Tula and Yaroslavl regions. Drones were also shot down over the Moscow region, Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Crimea and the Black Sea.

The previous day, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on August 27, air defense units destroyed another 39 Ukrainian UAVs. The interceptions took place over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk and Oryol regions, Crimea, and the waters of the Azov and Black seas.

The Kursk region also faced repeated attacks during the 24-hour period from 9:00 a.m. on August 27 to 9:00 a.m. on August 28. A total of 137 Ukrainian drones of various types were destroyed, Governor Alexander Khinshtein reported. Ukrainian forces also used artillery against evacuated areas five times and carried out four attacks involving UAVs equipped with explosive devices.

Six people were injured in the attacks on the settlement of Belaya in the Belovsky district. All of them received medical assistance. No fatalities were reported in the region during that period.

The Belgorod region came under 136 attacks over the past day, according to acting governor Alexander Shuvayev.

Ukrainian forces carried out five strikes using artillery and multiple-launch rocket systems. Explosive devices were dropped from drones in eight more attacks. Air defense crews and other units involved in countering the raids shot down or suppressed 261 UAVs.

Two men were killed in the Shebekino district, including an ambulance paramedic. Nine more people were wounded in the Belgorod and Shebekino districts, among them two ambulance workers. Two of the injured remain hospitalized, while the others are receiving outpatient treatment.
