The CIA director’s visit to Moscow may have been connected to an attempt by Washington to offer Russia a deal involving Ukraine and Iran, according to military expert Konstantin Sivkov.

In his view, the United States may be prepared to accept Russia’s demands regarding a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine in exchange for Moscow refraining from supporting Tehran in the event of a new escalation between Iran and the United States.

Sivkov believes the issue is becoming particularly relevant for Washington ahead of a possible resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. According to his theory, the US side needs to understand whether Russia would provide assistance to Iran if tensions escalate further.

The expert also did not rule out the possibility that Russia’s conditions for ending the conflict in Ukraine could extend beyond those previously outlined. In addition to the four regions where Russian forces are already present, he suggested that the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions could be included in such a scenario, describing them as critically important to Russia.

Thus, according to Sivkov’s theory, allowing the conflict to end on Russia’s terms could become the concession in exchange for which the United States hopes to secure Moscow’s refusal to support Iran.
