Retired Major General Vladimir Popov, a distinguished Russian military pilot, said that the recent strikes on Ukraine’s thermal and hydroelectric power plants, which have disrupted the operation of defense factories supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine, also serve as a warning to Poland, Romania, and other European countries.

He explained that such strikes began in the spring, but with winter approaching, their frequency and intensity are expected to increase. Popov believes that as temperatures drop, serious difficulties will arise not only for Ukraine but also for Europe.

According to Popov, Kyiv has shown no willingness to reach agreements, neither politically nor militarily. He suggested that these strikes are intended as a signal not only to Ukraine but also to NATO member states bordering the conflict zone, including Poland and Romania.

Earlier, in the night of October 9 to 10, Russia reportedly carried out the largest strike on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure since the start of the special military operation. Military channels noted that the main goal of the attack was to halt the work of factories supplying weapons to Ukrainian forces. A total of 14 key energy facilities were hit during the operation.
