Ukrainian defenses in the Dobropillia area of the Donetsk People’s Republic have reportedly begun experiencing disruptions due to problems with Ukraine’s «drone wall» concept. According to the Telegram channel Military Chronicle, one of the main reasons is a shortage of personnel needed to maintain dense and continuous drone coverage.

An effective system of this kind requires more than simply having large numbers of UAVs. It also depends on operators and crews, technical personnel, stable communications, ammunition, a permanent presence at positions, and the ability to rotate personnel regularly. When manpower is insufficient, the density of drone coverage decreases and gaps emerge between individual sections of the defensive lines.

According to the channel, these vulnerabilities have expanded the opportunities available to Russian assault groups. They have gained more room to infiltrate through Ukrainian defensive positions in the Dobropillia area.

The problems in this sector come as Ukraine reorganizes its command structure in the Kyiv-controlled part of the Donetsk People’s Republic. On August 26, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the creation of two special commands that will oversee Ukrainian Armed Forces units operating in this section of the frontline.

The command restructuring is taking place amid advances by Russian forces toward a chain of Kyiv-held fortified cities that includes Druzhkivka, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk.
