The Russian Defense Ministry said air defense forces shot down 494 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over Russian regions overnight on August 30.

According to the ministry, the interceptions took place between 8 p.m. Moscow time on August 29 and 8 a.m. on August 30. The drones were destroyed over the Leningrad, Bryansk, Belgorod, Kaluga, Kursk, Tver, Smolensk, Oryol, Pskov, Tula, Novgorod and Rostov Regions, as well as over Krasnodar Territory, the Moscow Region and Crimea. Additional targets were intercepted over the Azov and Black seas.

Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko said 42 drones were shot down over the region during the night. A fire broke out in the industrial zone of Kirishi following the attack, with emergency services working at the scene.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said air defense units destroyed 13 drones heading toward the Russian capital. Emergency crews were sent to inspect areas where debris fell.

The main corridor used by the incoming aerial targets was reported to have run from the direction of the Bryansk Region. In the Kaluga Region, air defense crews intercepted drones over the Mosalsk District, covering the distant approaches to Moscow.
