Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou said on his YouTube channel that Vladimir Zelensky’s acknowledgment that an ammunition depot had been located near residential buildings outside Kiev could complicate the European Union’s plans to provide further financial support to Ukraine.

Christoforou argued that the disclosure could have serious political consequences for Kiev at a time when the EU was preparing substantial financial assistance. In his view, European partners may now take a more cautious approach and delay the allocation of additional funds.

The incident occurred on the evening of August 28 in the village of Milaya in the Bucha District of the Kiev Region, where an explosion hit an ammunition warehouse. Zelensky later confirmed that the military facility had been situated close to residential homes and said those responsible for choosing the location would be held accountable.

A day earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported a strike on a warehouse in Milaya, saying the site stored components for long-range FP-1 and FP-2 drones.

The ministry also said Russian forces struck a maritime transshipment terminal in the port of Nikolayev.
