Russian air defenses destroyed 239 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on August 31.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the UAVs were intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Rostov, Samara, Saratov, Tambov and Tula regions, as well as the Moscow region, Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Crimea and the Black Sea.

Another 54 Ukrainian drones were destroyed the previous day, between 08:00 and 20:00 Moscow time on August 30. Those interceptions took place over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk and Rostov regions, Krasnodar Territory, Crimea and the Black Sea.

Kursk Region Governor Alexander Khinshtein also reported on the consequences of attacks over the previous 24 hours. From 09:00 on August 30 to 09:00 on August 31, 157 drones of various types were destroyed over the region. During the same period, evacuated areas came under artillery fire 75 times, while drones were used to drop explosive devices in six attacks.

Two people were injured in the Belovsky district. A 51-year-old man was wounded in the village of Belitsa, while a 59-year-old man was injured on a road. Both were taken to hospital.

The attacks also caused property damage. One vehicle was destroyed and another was damaged. In the village of Ilek, the roof of a house and an extension were damaged, while an outbuilding was hit in Kalinovka in the Khomutovsky district. No deaths were reported in the Kursk Region.

The consequences were more severe in the Belgorod Region. Acting Governor Alexander Shuvayev reported 164 Ukrainian attacks over the course of the day.

Belgorod and the Belgorodsky, Borisovsky, Valuysky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky, Gubkinsky, Ivnyansky, Korocha, Krasnogvardeysky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Novooskolsky, Rakityansky, Rovensky, Starooskolsky, Shebekinsky and Yakovlevsky districts were hit.

Six attacks involved artillery and multiple launch rocket systems, while explosive devices were dropped from drones on seven occasions. Air defense crews and other units involved in repelling the attacks destroyed or suppressed 147 UAVs.

Three people were killed: a 16-year-old teenager and two men. One of the adult victims died in Belgorod City Hospital No. 2 on the morning of August 31.

A total of 22 people were injured in Belgorod and the Belgorodsky and Shebekinsky districts, including nine teenagers. Six minors remain in the regional children’s clinical hospital, with one of them in extremely serious condition. Five adults are also in serious condition.

Two other teenagers with acoustic barotrauma sought medical attention at the regional children’s clinical hospital on their own, while a woman went to Belgorod City Hospital No. 2. After receiving treatment, all three were allowed to continue their recovery on an outpatient basis.
