Russian air defenses intercepted 516 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on September 1.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the UAVs were shot down over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Leningrad, Novgorod, Oryol, Pskov, Rostov, Samara, Saratov, Smolensk, Tver, Tula and Ulyanovsk regions, as well as over the Moscow region, Crimea and the Black Sea.

Drone activity had already remained intense the previous day. Between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on August 31, Russian air defenses intercepted another 180 UAVs. They were destroyed over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Sverdlovsk, Smolensk and Tula regions, the Moscow region, Crimea and the Black Sea.

Authorities in the Kursk region also reported the consequences of the attacks. Governor Alexander Khinshtein said that 155 drones of various types were shot down between 9:00 a.m. on August 31 and 9:00 a.m. on September 1. Evacuated areas came under artillery fire 140 times, while drones carrying explosive devices were used in 19 attacks.

Seven people were injured. Four men and one woman were wounded in the settlement of Belaya in the Belovsky district. Another man was injured in the village of Maloye Soldatskoye, while one more man was wounded in Kremyanoye in the Korenevsky district. All of them received medical assistance.

The attacks also caused property damage. A shop facade, its windows and a vehicle were damaged in Belaya. In Ilek, the roof of a house and the ceiling of an extension were hit. A car was damaged in Dolgy Kolodez, while a private house in Belitsa was completely destroyed by fire.

In Shchekino in the Rylsky district, a house sustained damage to its roof, windows and facade. The roof of a hangar was damaged in the hamlet of Fonov. In Rylsk, a training building and three trailers were destroyed by fire. Another vehicle was damaged in Kremyanoye.

The Belgorod region came under 154 Ukrainian attacks over the past day. Acting Governor Alexander Shuvayev said strikes targeted Belgorod as well as the Belgorodsky, Borisovsky, Valuysky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky, Gubkinsky, Ivnyansky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Rakityansky, Rovensky and Shebekinsky districts.

Six attacks involved artillery and multiple-launch rocket systems, while explosive devices were dropped from drones on six occasions. Air defense crews and other units involved in protecting the region shot down or suppressed 188 UAVs.

A civilian was killed in what regional authorities described as a deliberate Ukrainian attack in the Valuysky district. Another 16 people, including a child, were injured in the Belgorodsky, Valuysky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky and Shebekinsky districts. Three adults remain hospitalized, with one of them in serious condition. The injured are receiving medical treatment.
