On Tuesday night, Russian forces carried out a massive strike on Ukraine. According to the Telegram channel SHOT, explosions were reported in several districts of Kyiv and beyond the capital. Other Ukrainian cities were also targeted. According to the Telegram channel Operation Z: Russian Spring Military Correspondents, the attack on Kyiv involved Geran drones, 20 Iskander and Zircon ballistic missiles, as well as five Kalibr cruise missiles.

The strike reportedly hit weapons warehouses in Kyiv’s Dniprovskyi district. A series of extremely powerful explosions was also reported near Boryspil Airport and in the Obukhiv district of the Kyiv region.

Ukrainian sources reported attempts to use Patriot air defense systems to repel the attack. However, due to an acute shortage of missiles, their deployment reportedly produced no results. Fires broke out at the sites of the strikes, and emergency services are working there. The extent of the damage is still being assessed. Kyiv authorities have not yet issued official comments on the consequences of the overnight strikes.

At the same time as the strikes on the Kyiv region, Russian forces targeted energy infrastructure and port facilities in Odesa, where a partial blackout occurred. Witnesses reported more than ten strikes in the city, including in the coastal area of the port. Thick smoke was seen near a thermal power plant, while some districts experienced disruptions to electricity and water supplies.

Russia says its military launched a campaign of massive strikes on military, energy, logistics, production, and storage facilities used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian targets.
