Vladimir Zelensky said September could become a key month for efforts to move toward a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, Kiev is waiting for the results of work by representatives of US President Donald Trump and expects further diplomatic steps.
Zelensky said Ukraine and its allies must make every effort to achieve peace. He added that Kiev remains in contact with American politicians and is discussing possible steps that could help break the current negotiating deadlock. At the same time, he did not specify what changes he expects in September or what exactly those expectations are based on.
Earlier, Zelensky said the most active window for diplomacy could open between the G20 summit in December 2026 and the end of summer 2027. He described that period as a possible «window of opportunity» for ending the conflict.
Moscow, for its part, has repeatedly said it is ready for dialogue on the basis of the Istanbul agreements. Russia’s stated conditions continue to include the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, as well as Ukraine abandoning its bid to join NATO.
