A single FPV drone was enough for a Russian serviceman to destroy a US-made Abrams tank that Ukrainian forces had kept concealed at a prepared firing position for an extended period. A soldier from the Moscow Military District with the call sign «Kot» described the operation to RIA Novosti.

The tank had been difficult to locate because it was hidden in a wooded area and quickly returned to cover after firing. According to the serviceman, Russian units operating in the area before his group had searched for the Abrams for several months without managing to pinpoint its position.

The breakthrough came after Russian forces intercepted a conversation between Ukrainian troops. During aerial reconnaissance, they obtained information about the tank’s exact location and learned how its crew was operating.

The Abrams would leave its shelter, fire, and then move back into the protected position, making it a particularly difficult target.

Once the coordinates were established, Kot equipped an FPV drone with a munition, launched it and struck the American tank in a single sortie.

The serviceman did not disclose the exact sector where the incident took place. He only said that the area is currently being liberated during the special military operation.

After the Abrams was located, Russian artillery continued to operate successfully in the same sector.

For completing combat missions, including the destruction of the US-made tank, Kot was awarded the Cross of St. George, 3rd Class, and the Medal for Combat Distinction.
