Russian air defenses destroyed 130 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on September 2, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. The UAVs were intercepted over multiple regions of the country, as well as the Moscow region, Crimea, the Krasnodar Territory and the Black Sea.

The drones were detected over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Rostov, Tambov and Tula regions. Additional UAVs were shot down over the Black Sea.

Drone attacks had remained intense throughout the previous day. Between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on September 1, Russian air defenses destroyed another 109 Ukrainian fixed-wing UAVs.

Those interceptions took place over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk and Oryol regions, the Moscow region, Crimea and the Black Sea.

The Belgorod region was among the areas subjected to the heaviest attacks. Governor Alexander Shuvaev reported 140 Ukrainian attacks across the region over the past 24 hours.

Belgorod itself was targeted, along with the Belgorod, Borisovka, Valuyki, Veydelevka, Volokonovka, Grayvoron, Ivnya, Korocha, Krasnaya Yaruga, Rakitnoye, Rovenki, Stary Oskol and Shebekino districts.

Ukrainian forces carried out nine artillery and multiple-launch rocket system attacks during the period. Drones were also used nine times to drop explosive devices.

Air defense crews and other units involved in countering the attacks shot down or suppressed 143 UAVs.

The strikes caused civilian casualties. Two people were killed in the Belgorod and Grayvoron districts. Shuvaev expressed condolences to their families.

Another 16 people were injured in Belgorod and the Belgorod, Rakitnoye and Shebekino districts. Two of the wounded were in serious condition, while the others sustained injuries of moderate severity. All were receiving the necessary medical care.
