State Duma Defense Committee member Andrei Kolesnik said Moscow could revise its approach to the special military operation if Kiev moves toward terrorist attacks against international airlines flying over Russian territory.
According to Kolesnik, such actions would amount to state terrorism and could force Russia to change its current strategy. He said Russian forces are now carrying out precision strikes against targets in Ukraine while seeking to minimize risks to civilians.
The lawmaker added that further escalation could lead Russia to take tougher action against systems capable of threatening both Russian and foreign civilian aircraft.
Kolesnik also urged international carriers to pay close attention to Vladimir Zelensky’s recent remarks concerning flights over Russia. He argued that Moscow continues to safeguard airspace despite threats linked to the use of Ukrainian drones.
Earlier, Zelensky called on international airlines to stop flying over Russia, citing the danger posed by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles.
