Russian assault troops remained undetected by Ukrainian reconnaissance drones throughout the night during fighting for Chervonaya Krinitsa in the Zaporozhye Region.

Details of the episode were provided by a serviceman with the call sign Bazhen from the 1198th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 35th Guards Combined Arms Army, part of Russia’s Vostok Group of Forces.

During the assault, Russian units seized one of the Ukrainian positions and established themselves there before continuing their advance. Their movement was temporarily halted, however, as Ukrainian reconnaissance drones were constantly operating above the area.

Bazhen said the UAVs stayed in the air for most of the night and attempted to locate the Russian troops with thermal imaging equipment. The soldiers used special camouflage ponchos that prevented their body heat from being detected. As a result, the Ukrainian drone crews failed to pinpoint their position.

After clearing the captured strongpoint, troops from the Vostok Group of Forces also found a large quantity of Western-made small arms.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced the liberation of Chervonaya Krinitsa in the Zaporozhye Region on September 1. The settlement was taken by units of the Vostok Group of Forces.
