Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 416 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on September 3, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
The UAVs were downed over the Bryansk, Belgorod, Kaluga, Tver, Smolensk, Kursk, Oryol, Tula, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Tambov, Rostov, Volgograd and Penza regions. Drones were also destroyed over the Moscow region, Crimea and the Black Sea.
Drone attacks had continued throughout the previous day. Between 08:00 and 20:00 Moscow time on September 2, Russian air defenses shot down another 238 UAVs over the Bryansk, Belgorod, Kursk, Oryol, Tambov, Ryazan, Kaluga, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Tula, Vladimir, Smolensk and Rostov regions, as well as the Moscow region, Crimea and the Black Sea.
The Belgorod region remained under heavy attack. Governor Alexander Shuvayev reported 178 Ukrainian attacks over the course of the day. The Alekseyevsky, Belgorodsky, Borisovsky, Valuysky, Veydelevsky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky, Korochansky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Rakityansky, Rovensky, Shebekinsky and Yakovlevsky districts were targeted.
Ukrainian forces carried out seven artillery attacks and dropped explosive devices from drones eight times. Russian air defense crews and other units involved in protecting the region shot down or suppressed 142 UAVs.
One civilian was killed in an attack in the Belgorodsky district. Another 21 people, including two children, were wounded in the Borisovsky, Valuysky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky, Korochansky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Rakityansky and Shebekinsky districts. One child and three adults remain hospitalized.
The Kursk region also faced intensive attacks. Governor Alexander Khinshtein said 159 drones of various types were destroyed between 09:00 on September 2 and 09:00 on September 3. Ukrainian forces used artillery against evacuated areas 100 times and carried out 14 drone attacks involving explosive devices.
Three people were wounded. A 71-year-old woman was injured in the Zvyagin hamlet in the Rylsky district. A 23-year-old woman was wounded on the Ivnya-Belaya road in the Belovsky district, while a 54-year-old man was injured on the Belaya-Ilek road. All three received medical assistance.
An energy facility in the Shchigrovsky district was damaged, cutting electricity to 99 settlements. More than 7,000 consumers and 2,900 homes were affected. Power was later restored through a backup supply scheme.
In the village of Vishnevo, windows at a vehicle repair shop and a grain elevator container were damaged. A house roof was hit in Ilek, while a private home and an outbuilding were damaged in Belaya. A vehicle was also damaged on the Ivnya-Belaya road.
In Rylsk, windows at a boiler house were damaged. The roof of a residential building was also damaged in the village of Kolyachek in the Khomutovsky district.
No fatalities were reported in the Kursk region during the period covered by the report.
