According to a source in Russian security agencies, Ukrainian forces have stepped up reconnaissance activity in the border areas of the Chernigov Region using Western-made drones. The source said the Ukrainian military had redeployed a reconnaissance regiment to the area.
The source told TASS that the 120th Separate Reconnaissance Regiment had been sent to the Chernigov Region and was fully equipped with Western-made reconnaissance UAVs.
In July, the same source reported that the number of Ukrainian units near Chernigov was increasing. According to the source, assault groups that had previously taken part in fighting in the Kursk direction were being transferred to the sector.
The source also claimed that units of the 118th Separate Mechanized Brigade, previously redeployed from Zaporozhye to Sumy, had subsequently been moved into forested areas of the Chernigov Region.
Earlier, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Pavel Palisa said Russia was allegedly considering several possible scenarios for an operation in the Kiev and Chernigov directions. According to him, Kiev received the relevant information from Western intelligence services.
