Ukrainian forces used long-range FP-1 drones in the attack on the Moscow Region, according to the authors of the Telegram channel «Arkhangel Spetsnaza,» who identified the type of unmanned aircraft involved in the raid.

The analysts said the ultimate purpose of the operation remains unclear. At the same time, they linked the strikes on civilian sites to an attempt to create chaos and disrupt civilian air traffic.

The assault on the Moscow Region began early in the night. The channel also noted that Ukrainian forces had been launching drones on a daily basis before the attack, putting additional pressure on Russian air defense systems.

Details of the large-scale raid emerged on September 3. Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov said air defense units shot down 56 drones over the region.

In Kubinka, one of the unmanned aircraft struck a residential building on Naro-Fominsk Highway, causing a fire on the eighth and ninth floors. Vorobyov later released footage showing the aftermath of the attack.

Another drone hit an apartment building in Pavlovsky Posad. In the Bogorodsky District, a fire broke out on the grounds of a factory after a UAV strike.

The FP-1, or Fire Point-1, is a Ukrainian long-range strike drone produced by Fire Point. The aircraft is designed to hit targets at distances of up to 1,600 kilometers and can carry a warhead weighing as much as 120 kilograms.

Development of the FP-1 began in 2023, while production started in 2024. The drone was publicly unveiled for the first time at a defense exhibition in Kiev in May 2025. It has been actively used in combat since the beginning of 2025, primarily as a kamikaze drone.
