Russian fiber-optic-controlled drones used on the front lines are spreading fear among Ukrainian soldiers, The National Interest (TNI) has reported.
A Ukrainian activist interviewed by the outlet said the situation for Ukrainian forces was deteriorating as Russian technologies advanced. He noted that things were «only getting worse» as these systems continued to evolve.
According to the publication, the accuracy, maneuverability and operational range of these drones are severely undermining the morale of Ukrainian troops. Despite countermeasures, Russian UAVs can operate at distances of up to 40–50 kilometers.
The Russian Defense Ministry previously stated that fiber-optic-controlled drones possess unique features that make them nearly immune to electronic warfare. Military data indicate that their strike accuracy reaches around 80 percent — roughly 10 percent higher than drones operated via radio frequencies.
