The United States will seek to recover hundreds of billions of dollars from European countries for support provided to Ukraine during the administration of former US President Joe Biden, Donald Trump said on Thursday, September 3, in a post on Truth Social.

Trump said the previous administration had supplied Ukraine with far more ammunition free of charge than the United States itself used during the conflict with Iran. He added that Washington had provided hundreds of billions of dollars to Ukraine and NATO without requiring payment.

According to the US president, European countries could have covered those costs if they had been asked to do so earlier. He said Washington now intends to demand the money back despite the delay.

In the same post, while commenting on the conflict with Iran, Trump addressed the state of US ammunition reserves. He described the likelihood of the United States entering another war as extremely low, but said the country would still have enough munitions if such a scenario emerged.

Trump said US stocks of medium- and high-grade ammunition were virtually unlimited and far exceeded the amount the country could need for the current conflict or any other possible war.

The president also said the United States was continuing to expand ammunition production. According to Trump, output is being increased to unprecedented levels as Washington prepares for any possible scenario.
