Russian air defense forces destroyed 490 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on September 4.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the UAVs were intercepted over the Bryansk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Volgograd, Vladimir, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Orenburg, Rostov, Ryazan, Saratov, Samara, Smolensk and Tula regions, as well as the Moscow Region, Krasnodar Territory, Bashkortostan, Crimea and the Black Sea.
The attacks had already been continuing on a large scale the previous day. Between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on September 3, air defense crews destroyed another 426 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions.
In the Bryansk Region alone, 247 UAVs were destroyed over the course of 24 hours. The response involved Russian Defense Ministry air defense units, mobile fire teams from the BARS-Bryansk brigade, personnel of the Bryansk Transport Police Department and regional Rosgvardia special units.
In the Suzemsky District, two kamikaze drones struck civilian vehicles in the villages of Aleshkovichi and Negino. Acting Bryansk Region Governor Yegor Kovalchuk said a man and a woman suffered multiple injuries. Both were taken to hospital and received medical treatment.
In the Kursk Region, 208 drones of various types were shot down between 9:00 a.m. on September 3 and 9:00 a.m. on September 4, Governor Alexander Khinshtein reported. Evacuated areas came under artillery fire 80 times, while drones carrying explosive devices were used in another 24 attacks. No fatalities were reported in the region during that period.
A 64-year-old man was injured in the village of Oktyabrskoye in the Rylsky District. A vehicle was damaged in Kursk. In Uspeshnoye, the facade and windows of a private house were damaged, while a home in Ryzhevka sustained window damage. Another vehicle was hit in Oktyabrskoye.
A house window was damaged in Maloye Soldatskoye, the roof of a disused kindergarten was hit in Belaya Sloboda, and a warehouse roof was damaged in Vishnevo. Gas supplies were disrupted for 30 consumers in Belitsa. Two private-house roofs and an outbuilding were damaged in Rzhava. A residential roof was hit in Khomutovka, a cell tower was damaged in the village of Pody, and a vehicle was hit in Kukuevka.
The Belgorod Region came under 148 Ukrainian attacks over the past 24 hours, Governor Alexander Shuvayev reported. The strikes affected the Belgorodsky, Borisovsky, Valuysky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky, Gubkinsky, Ivnyansky, Korocha, Krasnogvardeysky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Novooskolsky, Prokhorovsky, Rakityansky, Rovensky and Shebekinsky districts.
Eight attacks involved artillery and multiple-launch rocket systems. Explosive devices were dropped from drones on five more occasions. Air defense forces and other units involved in the response destroyed or suppressed 123 UAVs.
The deadliest consequences were recorded in the Shebekinsky District, where five people were killed, including ambulance workers.
Another 14 people were injured in the Grayvoronsky, Rakityansky and Shebekinsky districts. Nine of them remain in hospital, with one patient listed in serious condition.
