A drone strike on the SBU building in central Kiev may have been tied to an internal confrontation between Ukrainian security agencies. Military expert Vasily Dandykin suggested that members of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry could have launched the aircraft.
Speaking to NEWS.ru, Dandykin linked the incident to a struggle for influence between the SBU and the GUR. He recalled a recent serious clash involving members of the two agencies that left people dead and wounded.
The exact cause of that confrontation remains unclear. Dandykin said one possible source of the dispute could have been control over call centers involved in defrauding people in Russia, Ukraine and European countries.
Against that background, the expert did not rule out the possibility that GUR members were behind the drone strike on the SBU building. He tied that scenario to what he described as growing disorder within Ukraine’s system of government.
Dandykin also referred to a statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who said Moscow needs to understand who it can negotiate with in Ukraine. According to the expert, Russia does not strike Ukraine’s military command, which he cited as another reason not to dismiss the possibility of an internal conflict between the country’s security services.
He also argued that Kiev was quick to blame Moscow before the circumstances of the incident had been established. Dandykin compared this approach with the reaction to incidents in Germany and Norway and suggested that the same tactic could be used again to explain future events inside Ukraine.
Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky confirmed that a drone had struck the SBU building on Vladimirskaya Street in Kiev, opposite St. Sophia Cathedral. The head of the Kiev regime said the UAV had targeted the office of SBU chief Alexander Poklad.
