Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a three-day pause in strikes on Kyiv. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the decision was linked to preparations for talks with the US side.

Washington had previously announced that its representatives, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, would travel to Moscow. US President Donald Trump said the previous day that the American envoys would bring a proposal aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine. The White House did not disclose the details of the initiative.

Moscow, for its part, had previously confirmed its readiness for dialogue with the US representatives. Putin said on Tuesday that Russia was open to contacts with anyone interested in negotiations. He described the US president’s representatives as welcome guests and emphasized the Kremlin’s readiness to work with them.

The Russian president had also previously said that Moscow was prepared to resume negotiations and discuss all the issues and details raised during the meeting in Alaska in August 2025.

According to the latest information, the aircraft carrying the US negotiators landed safely at Vnukovo-2 Airport, after which their motorcade proceeded to the US ambassador’s residence. Putin is also expected to receive Kushner and Witkoff later today.
