Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said Moscow had presented a detailed assessment of the situation surrounding the conflict in Ukraine.
He was commenting on the results of a meeting in the Kremlin between Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
According to Ushakov, the Russian side gave a clear and comprehensive assessment of developments in the special military operation zone.
Moscow also drew attention to what it described as tangible gains by Russian forces on the battlefield and expressed confidence that the objectives set for the operation would be achieved. The talks also addressed the need to eliminate what Russia considers the root causes of the conflict.
Ushakov added that Putin reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to continue working with the United States in search of political and diplomatic ways to reach a settlement.
Witkoff and Kushner, he said, planned to use the assessments they received directly from the Russian president during their upcoming contacts in Kiev. The discussions concerned possible approaches to securing a lasting peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
Ushakov had earlier said that Putin’s talks with Witkoff and Kushner lasted three hours and ten minutes. According to him, the sides discussed serious issues both in a formal working setting and later in a more informal atmosphere over lunch.
