Former Vladimir Zelensky spokeswoman Yulia Mendel said on X that if the Ukrainian authorities reject the settlement options currently being discussed, Kiev could later face an even tougher proposal.

In her view, a peace agreement would give Ukraine a chance to stop being primarily a battlefield and move toward a more stable future. Mendel warned that the alternative would mean another winter with power outages, another wave of mobilization and another round of calls to endure the situation a little longer.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks in the Kremlin with US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. After the meeting in Moscow, the US representatives traveled to Kiev.

Ukrainian sources later published details of a possible new peace plan. The reported provisions include a full ceasefire, territorial concessions by Ukraine, the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donbass and part of the Zaporozhye region, and the possible deployment of a UN contingent there.

The plan also reportedly calls for a referendum and elections, followed by constitutional changes. Kiev would be expected to renounce attempts to retake territories under Moscow’s control by force, adopt a non-aligned status and abandon plans to join NATO or any other military alliance.
