State Duma Defense Committee Chairman Alexey Zhuravlev said protecting Russian regions from Ukrainian drone attacks requires destroying the infrastructure that supports Ukraine’s UAV production, including facilities located in Europe.
He argued that even the most advanced air defense system cannot provide complete protection, particularly against daily mass attacks involving large numbers of drones. According to Zhuravlev, Russian air defenses intercept up to 85–90% of incoming aerial targets, with only a small number reaching their intended areas.
Zhuravlev said defensive measures alone are not enough. In his view, Russia should move toward preventive strikes against facilities linked to drone production, operator training and the manufacture of components.
He also said such strikes should be designed in a way that would leave Kiev unable to protect those sites.
Earlier, Ukrainian drones attacked several Russian regions located far from the border. Strikes were reported in Perm and Chuvashia.
