Military expert and retired Captain 1st Rank Vasily Dandykin suggested that the drones used in the attack on the Nizhnekamsk district of Tatarstan may have been launched from the Kharkov region. The area lies about 1,200 kilometers from the border.

According to Dandykin, long-range drone attacks on Russian regions can be launched from the Kharkov and Sumy regions, which he described as the closest suitable areas.

He also linked the continued strikes on Russian territory to setbacks faced by Ukrainian forces on the front, arguing that Kiev is trying to offset the battlefield situation through attacks on deeper rear areas.

On the morning of September 7, Ukrainian drones targeted Tatarstan. Nizhnekamsk Mayor Radmir Belyaev said the city came under a large-scale UAV attack, which Russian forces successfully repelled.

The same day, drones also struck the Perm Territory. Regional Governor Dmitry Makhonin said an apartment building in Perm was damaged, leaving one person dead and four others injured. A total of 27 UAVs were shot down over the region.

Russia’s Defense Ministry also reported that air defense systems intercepted Ukrainian drones over Tatarstan, Udmurtia, Chuvashia and the Perm Territory. According to the ministry, more than 300 drones were destroyed over Russian regions in total.
