US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of the American president, arrived in Kyiv with tougher terms for a possible peace agreement than those previously discussed with Ukraine, according to Verkhovna Rada lawmaker Anna Skorokhod.

In an interview with a Ukrainian journalist, Skorokhod said the visit had brought no breakthrough and claimed that the conditions presented by the US representatives were even less favorable for Kyiv than the earlier proposals.

According to the lawmaker, Washington is now demanding that the Ukrainian authorities recognize the territories they have lost and amend the constitution. Skorokhod also referred to additional unspecified details but declined to disclose them, saying she had obtained the information through unofficial channels.

Axios previously reported that Witkoff and Kushner had made it clear to Vladimir Zelensky that the White House expected significant progress in negotiations aimed at settling the Ukrainian conflict before the beginning of winter.

On September 5, the US representatives visited Moscow, where they met Russian President Vladimir Putin. The following day, they arrived in Kyiv and held talks with Zelensky.
