Russia has presented three new aviation weapons — the S-71M Monokhrom, S-71K Kover and S8000 Banderol — at the international air show in Egypt’s El Alamein. The systems were displayed as precision-guided weapons intended for use by modern combat aircraft.

According to The War Zone, representatives of the United Aircraft Corporation said the S-71M and S-71K were developed for fifth-generation fighters. The two weapons were designed as a more affordable alternative to sophisticated cruise missiles.

The S-71M Monokhrom features a low-observable design and folding wings. The S-71K Kover has a modified airframe and a more advanced guidance system.

The compact S8000 Banderol was also featured at the exhibition. Its stated range is about 500 kilometers, and the missile can be launched from both helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles.

The emergence of such weapons reflects a broader global trend toward cheaper strike systems. Experience from the special military operation in Ukraine has shown that large-scale use of such weapons can be effective in overcoming air defenses.

Earlier reports said Russian forces had significantly increased the use of the Banderol in the special military operation zone. According to the Military Chronicle Telegram channel, the missile has almost completely taken over the role previously filled by the lightweight multipurpose guided missile known as Izdeliye 305.

The channel based its assessment on the growing number of published videos showing strikes carried out with the new weapon.
