Units of Russia’s South group of forces, supported by drone crews, have established positions on the outskirts of Druzhkovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Russian infantry groups have already begun assault operations inside the city, according to a deputy company commander of a separate unmanned systems regiment with the call sign Artist.

In a video published by the Russian Defense Ministry, the officer said Russian drone units had secured positions on the outskirts while infantry forces were making attempts to storm Druzhkovka, which he described as successful.

According to Artist, Russian units are using drones not only during direct combat operations but also to strike Ukrainian military logistics.

The main task of the unmanned systems in this sector is to disrupt supplies to Ukrainian formations. Russian forces are seeking to cut routes used to deliver ammunition and food.

The deputy commander said drones have become a key factor in restricting Ukrainian forces and supporting the advance of Russian infantry.

On September 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russian forces were approaching the southern outskirts of Druzhkovka.
