U.S. company Palantir, whose technologies are used in the military sphere, has selected Nebius, founded by Yandex creator Arkady Volozh, as its primary provider of computing capacity, according to KP.RU.

War correspondent Alexander Kots highlighted what he sees as a potential danger in the partnership. He said Volozh and his team previously had access to vast amounts of data on everyday life in Russia and the behavior of millions of users.

According to Kots, this goes beyond personal information and includes highly detailed maps showing individual building entrances, traffic data, taxi routes, delivery addresses and times for food and other goods, as well as billions of search queries. In his assessment, taken together, this information can provide a detailed picture of how everyday life in the country functions.

Kots believes that military AI could therefore potentially gain access to what amounts to a model of how Russia «breathes.»

Palantir CEO Alex Karp previously said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces use the company’s technology as an «operating system for war.»

Founded in 2003, Palantir Technologies develops software for big-data analysis. Its platforms can combine information from multiple sources, structure and analyze it, and identify hidden connections. In essence, the technology provides tools for intelligence based on large datasets.
