Russian forces carried out a massive strike on Ukrainian metallurgical facilities whose products are used for military purposes. Port infrastructure in Odesa Region and vessels used in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were also struck, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The strikes involved precision-guided weapons launched from air, sea and land platforms, as well as attack drones. The main targets were industrial facilities in Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih.

In Zaporizhzhia Region, the Zaporizhstal steel plant was hit. The facility produces rolled sheet metal used to manufacture protective structures, armor components for military vehicles and plates for body armor.

Several facilities were struck in Dnipropetrovsk Region. A metallurgical plant in Kryvyi Rih that produces materials used in the manufacture of weapons and military equipment was hit. In Dnipro, the strike targeted the innovative electric steelmaking complex at the Interpipe Steel plant, one of Ukraine’s largest producers of rolled metal for military products. Russian forces also struck the Northern and Novokryvorizkyi mining and processing plants, which extract, process and agglomerate iron ore for subsequent use in metallurgical production.

Port infrastructure in Chornomorsk, Odesa Region, was another target. Facilities used to unload and store military cargo were hit. Two cargo ships that had been delivering weapons and military equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces were also damaged, along with a seagoing tugboat.
