Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 399 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight as a large-scale attack covered multiple regions of the country, Crimea, Krasnodar Territory and the Black Sea.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the interceptions took place between 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on September 13 and 8:00 a.m. on September 14. Drones were brought down over the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Rostov and Smolensk regions, as well as over the Republic of Crimea and Krasnodar Territory. Some of the aircraft were also destroyed over the Black Sea.

The attacks had already remained intense during the previous day. Between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on September 13, Russian air defenses intercepted another 140 Ukrainian drones over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol and Rostov regions, Crimea and the Black Sea.

Kursk Region was among the areas that came under particularly heavy pressure. Governor Alexander Khinshtein said 208 drones of various types were destroyed over the region between 9:00 a.m. on September 13 and 9:00 a.m. on September 14. During the same period, evacuated districts were subjected to 125 artillery attacks, while drones were used 35 times to drop explosive devices.

Two men, aged 46 and 31, were wounded in Kursk. Three apartment buildings, eight private homes, six vehicles, an administrative building, a kindergarten and a children’s camp were damaged.

In the village of Dukhovets in Kursk District, the facade and windows of a residential building were damaged, along with five vehicles. A shed was destroyed in Novoivanovka in Rylsk District. No deaths were reported.

Bryansk Region also faced a major drone attack. Acting Governor Yegor Kovalchuk said 129 drones were destroyed over the region during the day. The response involved Russian Defense Ministry air defense units, mobile fire teams from the BARS-Bryansk brigade, units of the Bryansk transport police and regional Rosgvardiya forces.

Belgorod Region came under 90 attacks by Ukrainian forces over the same period, acting Governor Alexander Shuvayev said. Strikes were reported in Belgorod and in the Alekseyevsky, Belgorodsky, Borisovsky, Valuysky, Veydelevsky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky, Korochansky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Rakityansky, Rovensky, Starooskolsky and Shebekinsky districts.

Authorities recorded five artillery attacks and 11 drone drops involving explosive devices. Air defense units and other forces involved in the response shot down 141 drones. Four people were wounded in the Grayvoronsky and Shebekinsky districts, including a 13-year-old girl. Two of the injured remain in hospital.
