FSB Says Western Weapons From Ukraine Reached Black Market

Russia’s FSB says up to 60,000 Western-supplied weapons sent to Ukraine may have reached the black market, with some reportedly found among Mexican cartels.

As many as 60,000 Western-made weapons supplied to Ukraine by its allies may have ended up on the black market, according to the press service of Russia’s Federal Security Service office in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

The agency said that some weapons previously stored in Ukrainian warehouses had already been discovered in the possession of Mexican drug cartels.

According to the FSB statement, Western officials deny that weapons are being systematically diverted, while Ukraine rejects any involvement.

The Russian security service said the weapons in question were manufactured in the United States, Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic and other NATO countries.

In June 2026, German media reported a rise in cases involving ammunition and firearms disappearing from the combat zone in Ukraine. The reports said some of these weapons later surfaced on the European black market.

Spanish law-enforcement agencies, in particular, reportedly seized modern military-grade weapons alongside illegal drugs during repeated anti-narcotics raids in Andalusia.

In February 2025, American journalist Tucker Carlson also claimed that Ukraine could be reselling US-supplied weapons to Mexican drug cartels operating near the US border.
