Russian air defenses intercepted 222 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on September 15, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

The UAVs were destroyed over the Oryol, Belgorod, Voronezh, Tula, Tambov, Bryansk, Rostov, Kursk, Lipetsk, Ryazan, Saratov, Samara, Kaluga and Ulyanovsk regions. Additional drones were brought down over Tatarstan, Crimea and the Black Sea.

The pressure had already remained high during the previous day. Between 08:00 and 20:00 Moscow time on September 14, Russian air defense units intercepted another 173 Ukrainian fixed-wing UAVs. They were destroyed over the Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Kaluga, Belgorod, Voronezh and Lipetsk regions, as well as Krasnodar Territory, Crimea and the Black Sea.

Kursk Region also reported a heavy series of attacks over the past 24 hours. Governor Alexander Khinshtein said 114 drones of various types were shot down between 09:00 on September 14 and 09:00 on September 15. Evacuated areas came under artillery fire 48 times, while drones dropped explosive devices in eight separate attacks.

Two men, aged 38 and 42, were wounded in Kursk. One suffered a blind shrapnel wound to the shoulder, while the other sustained an ear injury. Both received medical treatment and declined hospitalization.

Four private homes in the regional capital were damaged. Facades and a fence were hit, while a gas pipe at one property was also damaged, forcing the gas supply to be suspended pending repairs.

Falling debris also damaged around 30 vehicles, with some destroyed by fire. Windows were shattered at an administrative building.

Damage was reported elsewhere in Kursk Region as well. A vehicle was damaged in Rylsk, while the roofs and facades of two private homes were hit in the village of Uspeshnoye in Rylsk District. No deaths were reported in the region.

Belgorod Region recorded 63 attacks by Ukrainian forces over the same period, according to acting governor Alexander Shuvayev.

The strikes affected Belgorod and the Alekseyevsky, Belgorodsky, Borisovsky, Valuysky, Veydelevsky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky, Ivnyansky, Korochansky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Novooskolsky, Rakityansky, Rovensky, Chernyansky, Shebekinsky and Yakovlevsky districts.

Ukrainian forces carried out seven attacks using artillery and multiple launch rocket systems. Explosive devices were also dropped from drones on three occasions. Air defense crews and other units involved in the response shot down or suppressed 169 UAVs.

A civilian was killed in an attack in Grayvoronsky District. A woman who had suffered serious injuries in Borisovsky District on September 4 also died in hospital.

Three more people were injured in Shebekinsky District. All are receiving outpatient treatment.
