Experts Warn NATO’s Steadfast Noon Exercises Target Russia’s Security

NATO’s Steadfast Noon nuclear drills, launched on October 13, raise concerns in Moscow. Experts say the exercises could simulate blockades and pressure on Russia’s infrastructure.
Russia must be prepared for any potential developments — including the most unfavorable ones — as NATO begins its Steadfast Noon exercises. The drills, which started on October 13, involve the practice of nuclear deterrence missions and, according to analysts, are clearly directed against Russia.
Military expert and retired Navy Captain Vasily Dandykin suggested that during these maneuvers, NATO could rehearse restricting maritime traffic, specifically by simulating the blockade of the Danish Straits.
He noted that despite their «formal» designation, the scale, intensity, and proximity of the exercises to Russian territory demand heightened vigilance and readiness for possible escalation.
According to Dandykin, the alliance’s actions indicate a broader strategy aimed at increasing pressure on Russia and creating new points of tension — from the potential blockade of strategic waterways to possible strikes on critical infrastructure.
