Ukrainian sources confirm that fierce fighting is continuing in the Krasny Liman sector, but they do not support reports from Western analytical platforms claiming significant advances by Ukrainian forces, according to Voyennoye Obozreniye.
Ukrainian reports indicate that the salient held by Russian troops near Shandrigolovo remains in place. Despite the deployment of reserves and a series of counterattacks, Ukrainian units have failed to make substantial progress north of Krasny Liman.
Ukrainian forces reportedly took the village of Sredneye, which had previously remained in the grey zone. However, they have so far been unable to build on that gain or push farther forward. Fighting in the area remains intense.
A Ukrainian serviceman using the call sign Muchnoy also described the situation in the sector as difficult. He said that a significant share of the territory shown by various sources as controlled by one side or the other is in fact still part of the grey zone.
Because of manpower shortages, infantry does not maintain a permanent presence across many of these areas, while drones and artillery remain active on the ground.
Earlier media reports described the Krasny Liman sector as one of the areas where Ukrainian forces have been trying to regain the initiative through repeated counterattacks. The Ukrainian command has moved significant reserves into the area in an effort to hinder further Russian advances toward Slavyansk and Kramatorsk.
