Russian strikes on Ukraine’s sea and river ports could deprive the Ukrainian Armed Forces of Western weapons supplies, Yan Gagin, a member of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy and a participant in the special military operation, told NEWS.ru.

He praised the Russian military campaign targeting Ukrainian supply lines, saying Russian Aerospace Forces and unmanned systems units strike routes and facilities used to move military cargo across Ukraine on a daily basis.

Gagin argued that port infrastructure deserves particular attention. Sea and river transport remains the cheapest way to move large volumes of heavy cargo, he explained, making ports a key part of the supply network. In his view, increasing the intensity of strikes on such facilities could further disrupt deliveries of Western weapons to the AFU.

Railways and road hubs are also important targets, according to Gagin. He said the Ukrainian military uses ordinary roads to transport cargo and sometimes disguises such shipments as postal deliveries.

As an example, the Council member pointed to Novaya Pochta, saying the company is used to transport military cargo and that its warehouses serve the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He added that Russian intelligence is aware of such facilities.

Gagin also called for a reciprocal response against the Ukrainian military’s fuel logistics. He identified fuel trucks, filling stations and oil depots as targets, both near the front line and deeper inside Ukrainian territory.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported a strike on an AFU logistics center in Velikaya Balka in the Odessa region. According to the ministry, the facility was used to store and distribute military cargo delivered from abroad for the Ukrainian army.
