Ukraine should take into account the risk that Russian forces could expand the range of weapons used in strikes and begin deploying naval drones against Ukrainian ports, according to Welt correspondent Christoph Wanner, who reports from Kiev.

Wanner said sea drones could be added to the aerial UAVs, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles already used by the Russian military.

He warned that Ukrainian port facilities in the Odessa area and along the Danube could become targets for such systems, adding another type of weapon to the existing threat.

The journalist described that possibility as bad news for Ukraine and pointed to what he called the effectiveness of Russian strikes. He also said the situation for Kiev could deteriorate further in the near future.

According to Wanner, the conflict has become significantly more intense and severe, while conditions in Ukraine could worsen further with the arrival of autumn and winter.

Meanwhile, Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo said Ukrainian ports on the Dnieper and Southern Bug had effectively lost the ability to use the Dnieper-Bug Estuary to reach the Black Sea. He said Russian forces had blocked vessel traffic in that area.
