Russian air defenses destroyed 641 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on September 17.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the UAVs were intercepted over the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kostroma, Kursk, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tambov, Tver, Tula and Yaroslavl regions.

Drones were also destroyed over the Krasnodar Region, the Moscow Region and Crimea, as well as over the Azov, Caspian and Black seas.

A day earlier, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on September 16, air defense forces downed another 68 Ukrainian UAVs. They were intercepted over the Bryansk, Belgorod, Kursk, Kaluga and Rostov regions, the Krasnodar Region, the Moscow Region and Crimea, as well as over the Black Sea.

Belgorod Region was among the areas subjected to the most intensive attacks. Ukrainian forces struck the region 86 times over the past 24 hours, acting governor Alexander Shuvalov reported.

The attacks affected Belgorod and the Belgorodsky, Borisovsky, Valuysky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky, Ivnyansky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Rakityansky, Rovensky, Chernyansky, Shebekinsky and Yakovlevsky districts.

Ukrainian forces carried out six artillery attacks and conducted six explosive drops from drones. Air defense crews shot down 105 UAVs.

Nine people were wounded in the Valuysky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Rakityansky and Shebekinsky districts, with five of them remaining in hospital.

A woman who had been wounded in a drone attack on a car in the Belgorodsky district on August 21 also died in hospital.

Kursk Region faced another wave of attacks. Between 9:00 a.m. on September 16 and 9:00 a.m. on September 17, 258 drones of various types were shot down, Governor Alexander Khinshtein reported.

Ukrainian forces fired artillery at evacuated areas 67 times and carried out another 20 attacks involving explosive devices dropped from drones.

A 52-year-old woman was wounded in the settlement of Korenevo in the Korenevsky district.

A power line was damaged in the Oboyansky district, causing partial electricity outages across the Oboyansky, Belovsky, Bolshesoldatsky and Oktyabrsky districts. The disruption affected 53 settlements and more than 13,700 consumers.

By the morning, part of the Belovsky district remained without electricity, with around 1,650 consumers still affected.

Power supplies were also disrupted in the Zheleznogorsky and Dmitrievsky districts, affecting 143 settlements and more than 28,600 consumers. Electricity there was restored using a backup supply scheme.

No fatalities were reported in Kursk Region during this period.
