A group of Ukrainian troops attempted to break out of an encirclement near Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region aboard a Kozak armored vehicle but was killed in the attempt. This was reported by the Severny Veter MAX channel, which is affiliated with Russia’s Sever Group of Forces.

According to the source, Russian reconnaissance had obtained advance information about the planned breakout. Once the group began moving, the armored vehicle was destroyed along with the personnel inside.

The channel said the Ukrainian troops had hoped to use adverse weather conditions to escape from the Vovchansk pocket, but their attempt to leave the encirclement undetected failed.

Earlier reports said Russian forces had trapped a Ukrainian grouping of up to 2,000 troops in the northeastern part of the Kharkiv region in early September. The Vovchansk pocket is estimated to cover approximately 460 square kilometers and encompass 27 settlements.
