Russia and Ukraine have carried out another exchange of the bodies of fallen servicemen at the Novaya Guta checkpoint on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.

Russian State Duma deputy Shamsail Saraliyev told RBC that Moscow transferred 252 bodies to the Ukrainian side and received 23 in return. The Ukrainian Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War also confirmed that the exchange had taken place.

According to the Ukrainian side, representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross assisted with the humanitarian procedure.

The previous exchange of this kind took place on August 13. Russia then handed over 261 bodies to Ukraine, while the Russian side received 24.

Several days later, on August 19, Moscow and Kiev conducted a prisoner exchange involving 103 servicemen from each side. That operation also took place near the Novaya Guta checkpoint in the Gomel Region.

Humanitarian contacts between the two sides are continuing in other areas as well. On September 16, Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova said Moscow and Kiev were exchanging lists of missing servicemen and working to determine their fate.
