A massive Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow failed to achieve its objective, Russian military blogger Yuri Podolyaka said. In his assessment, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attempt to break through Russian defenses ended in complete failure, with most of the drones destroyed at the first line of defense.

Podolyaka linked the timing of the attack to the start of voting in the State Duma elections. He believes Kyiv sought to time the strike to coincide with the event and deployed substantial forces for the attack.

According to the military blogger, more than 600 drones were used in the attack on the Russian capital. Podolyaka said none of them reached their intended targets. He described the successful repulsion of the attack as a victory for Russia’s unmanned systems troops, air defense forces and Aerospace Forces.

The overnight attack from September 17 to 18 was not limited to the Moscow region. The Russian Ministry of Defense previously reported drone attacks in the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Smolensk and Tula regions, as well as Krasnodar Krai.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Ukrainian drones were also destroyed in Adygea and Crimea, as well as over the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
