Russian air defenses shot down 1,951 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over the past 24 hours, according to the Russian Defense Ministry’s September 20 battlefield report. The figure represents the highest daily total reported since the conflict began.

The ministry also reported intercepting eight guided aerial bombs, four rockets fired from US-made HIMARS systems and eight long-range Flamingo cruise missiles.

The previous daily high was recorded on August 18, when the Russian Defense Ministry said air defenses had destroyed 1,671 fixed-wing drones. At the time, Russian media described that figure as a record.

Other large daily totals were reported throughout August. The ministry said 1,504 drones were downed on August 20, 1,478 on August 16, 1,328 on August 15 and 1,158 on August 2.

The September 20 figure therefore exceeded the previous reported record by nearly 300 drones.

The latest daily total followed a massive overnight attack from September 19 to 20. The Russian Defense Ministry said its air defenses intercepted 1,110 Ukrainian drones during the night, with Moscow and the surrounding region among the main targets.
