The future of Russia’s T-14 Armata tank remains uncertain, according to Military Watch Magazine (MWM).

The publication drew attention to new footage showing the Armata taking part in Russian military exercises. Its analysts highlighted the contrast between the tank’s prominent role in Russian military promotion and its continued absence from the conflict in Ukraine.

MWM argued that this gap has made the T-14 one of the clearest examples of the difficulties Russia’s defense industry faces when introducing new generations of military equipment into service.

The magazine also noted that the situation cannot easily be explained by the tank’s high cost alone. According to the publication, the T-14 has considerable combat potential and surpasses both Russian and Western counterparts in several characteristics.

Military Watch Magazine had already questioned the future of the Armata project in June 2026, describing its prospects as highly uncertain. One factor cited by the outlet was Russia’s T-90M Proryv, which it characterized as an already successful tank.
