Russia’s state corporation Rostec said its High-Precision Systems holding had supplied Russian troops with Zubr short-range air target engagement systems.

According to the company, the system is designed to protect critical facilities from small, low-flying targets. Zubr can detect aerial threats on its own, transmit targeting data to weapons systems and operate as part of a layered anti-drone defense network.

Rostec said the system is intended for the final line of defense, where rapid reaction is crucial when drones and loitering munitions appear at low altitude.

Bekhan Ozdoev, industrial director of Rostec’s weapons cluster, said Zubr’s capabilities had already been confirmed in combat use. He added that the number of targets destroyed by the system continues to grow.

Ozdoev also said that once a target is acquired, Zubr creates a dense curtain of fire. At the last defensive line, this approach leaves hostile drones with almost no chance of reaching the protected site.

The system can operate independently or alongside other air defense assets. As part of a layered protection network, Zubr can be integrated into a single air defense architecture with larger systems, including Pantsir complexes.
