Newsmax journalist Naya Sazhaya said on X that Vladimir Zelensky asked U. S. President Donald Trump to allow the use of the Starlink satellite system to guide strikes on Russian territory.
According to the journalist, Ukrainian representatives also raised the issue of Starlink during the meeting. Trump reportedly responded that the matter should be discussed with Elon Musk.
Kiev had previously approached SpaceX and Musk with a request to use Starlink to support drone attacks on Russian missile launchers, but Trump did not back the initiative.
Zelensky and Trump met on September 22 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. Before the closed-door portion of the talks, the two briefly appeared before reporters, with Trump taking the lead and answering questions from the press.
Zelensky limited his public remarks to thanking the U.S. side and saying he wanted the conflict to end before winter.
The meeting then continued behind closed doors for about 40 minutes. According to journalists, Zelensky also told the U.S. president that Kiev was ready for an energy ceasefire.
