Russia’s Rassvet satellite system gives troops a real-time view of Ukrainian positions and allows them to use that data to direct precision strikes.

Military pilot and reserve officer Dmitry Drozdenko told NEWS.ru that Russian units are equipped with special terminals linked to Rassvet satellites. The connection lets commanders receive information from orbit as events unfold.

According to Drozdenko, the system makes it possible to monitor not only the immediate combat zone but also areas behind Ukrainian lines. After receiving the necessary data, a commander can order a strike, assess its results and adjust further fire if needed.

Earlier, Sergey Beskrestnov, an adviser to Vladimir Zelensky and a specialist in communications and unmanned systems known by the call sign Flash, described the deployment of Russia’s low-Earth-orbit Rassvet constellation as a catastrophe for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He also called on the Ukrainian authorities to develop electronic warfare systems.

The constellation is being deployed by the Russian aerospace company Bureau 1440. After reaching their initial orbit, the spacecraft separated from the launch vehicle and came under the control of the company’s Mission Control Center. Once the required checks are completed, the satellites are expected to begin moving to their target orbit.
