Russian artillery units on the Krasny Liman direction are using Krasnopol precision-guided rounds against Ukrainian positions. The ammunition is fired by Msta-S self-propelled howitzer crews from the 25th Combined Arms Army of the West group of forces, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

The Msta-S crews strike concentrations of Ukrainian personnel and equipment, command and observation posts, ammunition depots, mobile artillery systems, including Western-made weapons, and UAV control points on a daily basis.

For precision attacks, the artillerymen use programmable Krasnopol rounds. The Defense Ministry said these munitions do not require preliminary ranging fire. A reconnaissance drone illuminates the selected target with a laser, while the projectile’s seeker detects the reflected signal and adjusts its flight path toward the target.

According to the ministry, the high accuracy of Krasnopol makes the Ukrainian tactic of positioning forces near civilian homes ineffective. Artillery crews are actively using the guided rounds to destroy enemy equipment.

Msta-S crews also fire conventional high-explosive fragmentation shells against personnel, armored vehicles and artillery positions.

Reconnaissance UAVs are used to monitor the strikes in real time. The drones provide immediate data on target hits and confirm their destruction.
